Since 2009, Building Markets — an international non-profit that builds economies in developing countries — has counted on Major Robot to develop and support its business portals in Afghanistan, Haiti, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, and Liberia. With the goal of making these portals incomparable resources for connecting local entrepreneurs and creating jobs, we've developed a custom SMS/email system that alerts local suppliers to recently poster business tenders, as well as a complex, Apache Solr-based search that allows NGOS to locate local suppliers using a wide variety of business data.
